Jeremy Miller Honored as a "Super Lawyer"
Jeremy Miller has been recognized as a 2007 "Super Lawyer" by Los Angeles magazine. Jeremy was also honored in 2006. The peer-based award recognizes the top 5% of health care attorneys in Los Angeles and Orange Counties.

On February 10, 2007, Jeremy Miller will speak on "Negotiating Your Best Professional Service Agreement," for the Radiology Business Management Association meeting in San Francisco, California.
On January 30, 2007, Michael Thornhill chaired "Managed Care 2007: Recent Developments of Interest to California Lawyers," a program sponsored by the Los Angeles County Bar Association.
On December 1, 2006, Diane B. Sherman spoke on "Ergonomic Accommodation and the Law" to the National Ergonomics Conference and Exposition, held in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Deficit Reduction Act
On February 8, 2006, President Bush signed into law the Deficit Reduction Act of 2005 (the "Act"). The Act makes numerous changes to Medicare payment provisions affecting a variety of providers. The Act averted a scheduled 4.4% payment cut for physicians. Click here to view key provisions of the Act.
Provider Enrollment
On June 20, 2006, new CMS regulations go into effect for providers and suppliers to establish and maintain Medicare enrollment. The new rules include a requirement that existing providers revalidate their enrollment information every 5 years. Click here to view the new regulations.
Stark and Nuclear Medicine
As of January 1, 2007, nuclear medicine services, such as nuclear cameras and PET, will become "designated health services" covered by the Stark law. Physicians have until then to restructure non-compliant joint venture arrangements.
PT/OT Caps
After numerous delays, as of January 1, 2006, Medicare will cap annual payments for physical therapy and occupational therapy at $1,740 each. The law requires CMS to create an exception process for medically necessary services.

Medicare Modernization Act

New California Laws
On January 1, 2005, new California laws went into effect providing expanded rights for hospital medical staffs (Click here), allowing employers to establish "medical provider networks" for their injured workers, and requiring employers of 50 or more persons to provide sexual harassment training for supervisors (Click here).
